Description

The 8 Doors Distillery in John O'Groats presents an 8-year-old single cask, single malt whisky under the Seven Sons brand. This range serves as their proprietary bottling while awaiting the maturation of their own whisky. The spirit, sourced from the Glenturret Distillery, is known for its heavy peat and is thus labeled 'Ruadh Moar'. It has been matured in a first-fill European oak hogshead, resulting in a limited edition of 422 individually numbered bottles.

Glenturret

Glenturret is one of the oldest still producing distillery there is in Scotland. Its history traces back to some smugglers in 1775.

Glenturret distillery offers a range of official and independent bottlings, including several age-statement releases and special editions, although many older bottles are now rare. Known for its connection to blending, particularly as a key component of The Famous Grouse blend, Glenturret is touted as Scotland's oldest distillery, with a history of both legal and illicit distillation dating back to the 18th century. The distillery has undergone numerous changes in ownership and operations, including a 30-year period of inactivity before being revitalized in 1959. Today, under the ownership of the Erdington Group, Glenturret continues to produce a single 10-year-old bottle, reflecting its rich heritage and commitment to quality.
