Description
The Ledaig 2008 Gordon and MacPhail 12 Year Old Hermitage Cask Finish Batch 20/074 whisky has a fascinating history. Originally known as Ledaig, the Isle of Mull's Tobermory distillery opened in 1798. After being dormant for much of the 20th century and undergoing multiple closures and reopenings, the distillery was renamed Tobermory in 1979. The production includes both peated and un-peated whiskies, with the peated whiskies retaining the historic Ledaig name.
This specific whisky was distilled in 2008 and initially matured in a refill ex-sherry hogshead before being finished in a Hermitage cask. It was bottled on October 8th, 2020.
Gordon & MacPhail, a renowned whisky company known for their independent bottlings, produced this whisky. Their Connoisseurs Choice label is highly regarded in the whisky market, and this particular release is part of their premium single casks range, reimagined in 2018. Only 4,440 bottles of this limited edition were produced.
