Description

This full and sweet whisky comes from Dailuaine distillery, which lies in a hollow by the Carron Burn in Banffshire. Deep and complex, the nose provides aromas of walnuts and butterscotch, dried orange peel, candied lemon peel and green herbs. The palate is sweet and warming, offering Highland toffee, sugar-coated almonds, bright citrus, dried fruit and baking spice notes, with a lingering, nutty finish.

Other Information

The Flora and Fauna series is a collection of single malt Scotch whiskies originally released in the 1990s by United Distillers (now Diageo). Designed to showcase lesser-known distilleries, the range features a variety of unique expressions from across Scotland.

Named by whisky writer Michael Jackson, the series highlights each distillery with natural-themed labels. While the collection has been discontinued, many bottlings remain highly sought-after by collectors and enthusiasts.

Dailuaine

Dailuaine Distillery was established in 1851 at Carron in the heart of the Speyside whisky region. In 1889 Charles C. Doig was commissioned to design a new roof for its malt kiln and he duly produced the Doig pagoda roof, the first of which was installed at Dailuaine. The design proved successful, was rapidly adopted by other distilleries and nowadays it is the symbol of the traditional malt whisky distilleries. Dailuaine is rarely seen as a single malt bottling as most of its whisky plays an essential role in providing fillings for blends. Occasionally, Dailuaine offers special releases known as 'Manager's Drams'. These are often exclusive to visitors at the distillery. There have been a few limited single malt releases like Diageo's Flora & Fauna range and Independent bottlers like Gordon & MacPhail and Signatory (there are more) occasionally release single cask Dailuaine whiskies.
