Ardbeg Distillery was established in Ardbeg on the south coast of the isle of Islay, Argyll and Bute, Scotland in 1815 by John McDougal and was ran by the McDougall family until 1959. Ardbeg Distillery is one of the Islay distilleries that participate in the world-famous Feis Ile, which is an annual Islay Festival that attracts whisky and Islay fans. Since its establishment in 1815 the distillery has had a history of owners and was bought in 1997 by Glenmorangie which was then acquired by the current owners the Moet Hennessy company. Ardbeg distillery produces some of the islands smokiest malt and is said to be one of the island?s sweetest. Overall, a great Islay whisky.
