Old Pulteney

Distilled in the windswept coastal town of Wick, Old Pulteney captures the essence of its maritime heritage in every drop. Established in 1826, the distillery is one of Scotland’s northernmost, with traditional warehouses exposed to the invigorating sea air of the North Sea. This unique location imparts a distinctive coastal character to its single malts - marked by subtle salinity, sea spray freshness, and a smooth, honeyed depth.
Often referred to as 'The Maritime Malt', Old Pulteney’s whiskies are crafted using time-honoured methods, including copper pot stills with unusually shaped boil balls and worm tub condensers. The result is a style that balances sweet malt, dried fruit, and briny complexity, with expressions ranging from the award-winning 12 Year Old to rare vintage and commemorative releases.
Old Pulteney’s story is inseparable from the sea, from the herring fleets that once thrived in Wick to the brand’s modern-day tributes like the Clipper Race Edition. Each bottling reflects the distillery’s enduring connection to its coastal home, making it a favourite among collectors who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and a sense of place.
